Bobby Dean Shipley, 79, of San Angelo rose to be with His Savior on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Snyder, Texas on June 7, 1934 to Maxwell & Floye Shipley. He received his high school diploma from Snyder High School in 1952. He married Clovis Pettitt on October 6, 1955 in Snyder, Texas.

His lifelong profession was in the oil & gas pipeline business where he eventually retired from Transwestern-Enron after 30 years. Because of his career he resided in Kermit, Odessa, Houston, and Roswell, New Mexico. His desire to walk in faith with The Lord led him to become a worshipful master with the Kermit Masonic Lodge, member of various churches throughout his lifetime with his current membership at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, was an avid golfer, and loved attending Permian football games. Above all else he enjoyed doing these things with his family. The family best remembers him the most for not only his quick witted sense of humor and hilarious stories but especially for the love and passion he had for them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Floye Shipley; a grandson, Brandon Lee Shipley.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clovis Shipley; his son Terry Shipley & wife Debra of Lubbock; his daughter Cheere Behrendt & husband Brad of Burnet; his grandson Justin Shipley & wife Jill of Lubbock; his granddaughter Kali Behrendt of San Angelo; 2 great grandchildren Brandon & Brylee Shipley of Lubbock; a brother JW Shipley of Midland, and numerous other extended family members and friends. Visitation & viewing for family and friends will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in San Angelo from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. The funeral will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25 with Pastor Mack Roller officiating. Frank Wilson Funeral Home in Odessa will be assisting. Burial & graveside service will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rodney Black, Lance Cardona, Brent Couch, Steve Fowler, Brent Kelley, John “Fig” Newton, Lee Rabe, Nathan Villaloboz. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Interim Home Care and Hospice and Comfort Keepers. Donations may be made to Interim Home Care and Hopsice to benefit Alzheimer’s patients at 3402 Greenmeadow Dr, Suite B, San Angelo, Texas 76904 in honor of Bobby Shipley.

Our prayers are with you during this time. It's hard to explain to some how to mourn and rejoice at the same time, but we know that same Jesus that Mr. Shipley lived his life for and know that we shall see him again one day. May Gods peace surround each of you in the coming days.
