Bonnie Chappell, age 95, of San Angelo, Texas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Bonnie was born February 1, 1927 on her family's farm in rural Briscoe County, Texas to A. H. and Glen Josephine Chappell.
Throughout her childhood, Bonnie worked alongside her family on their farms - gathering cotton and milking cows - until graduating in 1944. During her senior year of high school, Bonnie felt God's call on her life to become a missionary. She attended Wayland College in Plainview where she began educating people about God's love as a Sunday School teacher at Date Street Baptist Church. This was only the beginning of her career as a Religious Educator. After Wayland, Bonnie attended Howard Payne University, and later Southwestern Baptist Seminary where she graduated in 1950. Bonnie went on to serve in a multitude of places including Brownfield, Greenville, Texarkana, Costa Mesa, Fresno, Riverside, and Mill Valley. In 1993, Bonnie moved to San Angelo where she remained active in the Baptist Church, volunteering in several groups.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents A. H. and Glen Josephine Chappell; her brother Wilbur Preston Chappell; her sister Opal Dean Grabbe; her brother Valton Lois (Dick) Chappell; her brother Harley Malford Chappell and her sister Ruby Jewell Chappell.
Bonnie is survived by her brother G. W. Chappell.
A graveside service for Bonnie will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Silverton Cemetery, with G. J. Walton officiating.
