My brother (also named Boyd) always spoke of his son with love and hope for his future. He told me how talented he was with his hands and could fix anything. May they now both be together in love and peace.

Boyd Deters, Jr ( Boo) was my nephew and was a beloved son of my brother. He had a troubled life in the past years, but was seeking redemption and I know that he loved and cherished his family, especially his son, very, very much. May his love continue and may he have peace.

I would assist Boyd Deters Jr every time he came to the center. He was a friendly person and always smiling and full of joy. I would assist him with job leads and other supportive services to help him get back on his feet and into a full time job. I loved it when he came in because he always talked about sports and was very knowledgeable of different teams. When I saw this in the newspaper we could not believe it. I just saw him the day before. His presence was always in a positive mood and he made our day by coming in to the center. Days when we didn't see him among ourselves we would ask each other " have you seen Boyd today ". I saw him not just a job seeker but as a person that inspired those that he communicated with. He will be greatly missed.
Our sympathy is with you during this time of grieving.. ..

I've known Boyd for a short period of time, but it was long enough to know he was always kind and patient towards people. He would come in every week with a smile on his face — very warm and approachable and welcoming.
A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul ascended to heaven.

We enjoyed having Boyd playing drums or congas with our praise band at First United Methodist. We enjoyed his talent and tales and we were glad he was a part of us.
