Born and raised in Walnut Creek, California, Carrie came to Texas for college, where she not only found a new home but also fell in love. That beginning led to a beautiful 43-year marriage to her husband, John Robert Prude Jr (Chipper), and a life in Texas filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories.
Carrie was a beloved wife, mother, Gigi, teacher, sister and friend. She was a devoted mother to Tori (Javi) Vielma, Jayne (Darryl) Johnson, and Heidi (Tyler) Hinrichs, and nothing brought her greater joy than being a Gigi to her seven grandchildren: Tenley, Olivia, and Hallie Vielma; Kendall and Kylie Johnson; and Rhylee and Colt Hinrichs.
Carrie dedicated many years to teaching and touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. She had a gift for making an impact that lasted well beyond the classroom—and was even known to throw an eraser or two when the occasion called for it!
Her heart extended far beyond people. Carrie had an incredible passion for animal rescue and opened her home and heart to dogs, donkeys, horses, and just about anything in between that needed a loving home. Her compassion for animals was a beautiful reflection of the kind of person she was: loving, loyal, and always willing to help something in need.
Carrie loved to travel, spend time outdoors, make memories with her family, and enjoy life. She was also never afraid to share a sarcastic remark or two, often leaving those who loved her laughing and shaking their heads.
Carrie will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, family, friends, former students, and the many animals whose lives she touched. Her love, humor, generosity, and unmistakable spirit will live on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lee Frost, and her sister, Michele Frost.
A memorial service will be held on October 10, 2026, with time and location details to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carrie’s name to any animal rescue organization of your choice, in honor of the animals she loved so deeply.
