Charles Arthur Gregory

Charles A. Gregory, 86, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at his home. Charles was born February 28, 2012 in Chandler, OK. He grew up and attended school in Leverett’s Chapel, TX where he was an outstanding athlete. He married Mary Helen Haynes in 1936 in Kilgore, TX. He worked with Amoco Pipeline Company which took him to Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana and various Texas towns including Beaumont, Deer Park and Tomball. Upon retirement in 1984, Charles and Mary Helen settled in San Angelo in order to be close to their grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Becky) Reel and husband Harold of San Angelo; grandson, Dr. Chad Reel and wife Dr. Justina of San Angelo; granddaughter Rachal Bracker and husband Mark of Irving; and great-grandchildren: Elsa, Emma and Abby Reel and Kellan Gregory Bracker. He is also survived by brothers W.A. Gregory of San Angelo, Don Gregory of Daingerfield, Dwain Gregory of Longview, sister-in-law Martha Horton and husband Daniel of Kilgore. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Helen Gregory, his son Richard as well as his parents Walter and Mary Francis Gregory.

Charles enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Overton Cemetery in Overton, TX.
