

Curtis B. Cox, Born March 21, 1930, and passed away June 13th 2011 at the age of 81 surrounded by his loving family. Curtis was known to most of his friends as “Red.” He came to San Angelo with the Air force where he met and married the love of his life, Virgie Lou Russell. They had 50 wonderful years together before her death. Curtis worked for Goodyear Proving Grounds for over 30 years before retiring in 1985. After retiring, he returned to Louisiana to care for his mother. He had a cattle operation in Louisiana until 8 years ago. He returned to San Angelo in 2010 to spend time with his loving children, and because of the loving care from his Daughter-in-law Darla, he was able to stay at home. Curtis was preceded in death by his loving wife Virgie Lou Cox, his mother Nannie E. Moore, his Father Ben Cox and Grandson Jonath Vanderpool. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Geraldine, his son, Benny and wife Elaine, Daughter, Brenda Moneer and husband Mike, Son, David and wife Patty, son Harvey and wife Darla, Daughter, Virginia Vanderpool and husband Tommy, Brother, David and wife Bev, Sister, Ann Shannon and husband Gene; Stepchildren, Kenny, Jerri Ray, and Jan, 10 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and step grandchildren. He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He loved to hunt and fish and he taught his children well. The graveside service will be 9:00 A.M, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Gene Shannon officiating.
