Diane is survived by her parents R.D. (Cotton) and Peggy Ragsdale of Kingsland, husband Don, son Denver Moore of San Angelo; grandson Christopher; granddaughter Natasha; brother Richard (Scooter) Ward of Somerset, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; cousin Linda of Keller, and longtime friend/sister Sharon Rowland.
Diane was born in Lubbock, Texas; graduated from Odessa High School and Angelo State University.
She married Don Wilson on September 11, 1986 in San Angelo, Texas.
Diane began her career working for Child Protective Services in Tom Green County before moving to the 51st 119th DA’s Office where she dedicated her life as an investigator for the last 28 years. She was an active duty peace officer … a role that she took great pride in. She spent her career “helping others.”
Diane was a member of the Texas District & County Attorneys Association and served 3 terms on the Board of Directors of the Investigators Section. Diane was recognized by TDCCA with the Chuck Dennis Investigator of the Year Award twice during her career. Other awards received included the Professional Career Investigator Award (PCI), and the Oscar Sherrill Award.
Diane loved to be “in control” and those who knew and loved her, let her be. She loved margaritas, good wine, good times and lived life to the fullest. She was the friend that you could tell your secrets and know they would never be repeated. The highlight of each year was her annual “Chick Trip”. Her energy, positive attitude, contagious laugh and heart-warming smile will be missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dobbins, Mitch Landry, Barry Wike, Dick Brock, Mike Harris, Rusty Herndon. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Rowland, Doug Bell, Jake Wike and The Chicks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Texas Rehab Center or Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. Family and friends may sign the online register book at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com.
Love ya Diane, mean it.
