It is with great sadness that I did not get to see Uncle Don while he was still alive.  I have many happy childhood memories of Nystedt's Piano house in Cherokee, Iowa.  Going out to the Nystedt farm with my cousins Cindy and Mark, and my music loving and fun loving Aunt and Uncle, Alta and Don.  I'll never forget Don playing the Harpsicord at a family get-together with my Parents, Paul and Val, and Aunt Shirleen and Milt.  And everyone singing!

I knew Donald briefly when I grew up in Cherokee, but I am sure my dad, Art Awe, knew him better because of their piano interests. However, I did know his nephew, Harry, who lived in Arnold's Park. And Don may well have tuned the old Cable piano in our house on which my dad played his music and I was supposed to practice mine! The music lives on as do those who played it! [from Brad Awe}
