Doris Guinn Phillips passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 84. She was born July 1, 1929, in Pampa, Texas, to Arthur and Lillian Altman. She was the granddaughter of JW and Sara Thorton, old-time San Angelo ranching family. She graduated from ASU's nursing program and worked as a registered nurse for 30 years. Graveside service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, in Fairmount Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Kirkland; son Bruce Riley; grandchildren Kim Bolin and Kevin Kirkland; and three great-grandchildren.
