2025, in The Woodlands, Texas. A woman of grace, creativity, and deep faith, Dorothy
lived a remarkable life that spanned continents and generations.
Born on October 14, 1932, in Bagdad, Iraq, Dorothy was raised in a distinguished British
embassy family. Her early years were spent in an elegant family compound where she
experienced a vibrant and cultured upbringing. Surrounded by the grandeur of
diplomatic life, she attended formal gatherings with state and national dignitaries and
grew up in a home known for its beauty—complete with a flourishing tree at the heart
of its courtyard.
Dorothy eventually made her home in San Angelo, Texas, where she lived for many
decades and became a beloved member of the community. She was a long-time member
of Trinity Lutheran Church of San Angelo, where her Christian faith flourished through
fellowship and spiritual connection. Her devotion to her beliefs and her church family
remained steadfast throughout her life.
A gifted artisan, Dorothy was known for her exceptional talent as a professional
seamstress. She created unique custom clothing and exquisite wedding attire that
reflected both skill and imagination. Her artistry extended beyond fabric; she worked
with a local artist in San Angelo to craft tapestries that were displayed in galleries.
Whether knitting, crocheting, designing jewelry, or enhancing home interiors, Dorothy
brought elegance and creativity to everything she touched.
Dorothy shared her life with her beloved husband Dennis Rayner Charles Romans until
his passing. Together they built a loving family that continues to honor their legacy.
She is survived by her three children: Lynn Rayner John Romans; Tina Jane Romans
Hooper and husband Michael Dwayne Hooper; and Trevor John Romans and wife Cathy
Romans. Her grandchildren—Christopher Romans, Ashley Romans, Morgan Romans,
Todd Hooper, and Bryan Hooper—were a source of great pride and joy. Dorothy also
leaves behind four cherished great-grandchildren who brought light into her later
years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eric Charles Rose and Rosa Rose; her three
brothers Frank Rose, Harry Rose, Eddie Rose; and her sister Sylvia Rose McLean.
In the final chapter of her life, Dorothy resided in a private care home where she
received round-the-clock attention from the compassionate Phoenix Care Team. Her
family takes comfort knowing that she was surrounded by kindness and dignity during
this time.
Dorothy’s life was one of elegance, devotion, creativity, and love—a legacy that will
continue to inspire all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who
mourn her passing and joy to those who celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
