

Douglass “Totsie” Lorene Adams Kerr passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012. She was born on July 24, 1930 in Pecos, Texas, and was a life long resident of Fort Stockton, Texas where she was raised in the beauty and wilds of the Trans-Pecos. Totsie received her high school diploma from Radford School for Girls in El Paso, Texas and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. She met the love of her life, James Richmond Kerr of Sanderson, Texas and was married in 1954.
Totsie was an avid reader and historian and instrumental in the building of the Fort Stockton Public Library. She was a life time member and contributor to The Fort Stockton Public Library, St. Agnes Catholic Church, The Big Bend Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae, Ft. Stockton literary Club, the Pioneer Club and a charter member of Old Fort Stockton Days. Totsie loved needlepoint, knitting and cooking, but her best time were spent hunting arrowheads and dragging her children around her backyard, the Big Bend National Park.
Totsie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Richmond Kerr, longtime attorney in Fort Stockton, and her parents, Douglas and Lorene Adams. She is survived by her four daughters, Katherine Lorene and husband Tom Rice, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Camille Dewees Kerr of Austin, Texas, Valerie Ann and husband, David Hague of San Angelo, Texas, and Karen Elizabeth and husband, Rick Balestrini of Hanover, Pennsylvania, her brothers, Martin O. Adams and wife, Carol, of Fort Stockton, and James H. Adams of Alpine, her loving sister, Betty Kerr Moberly of Dallas, her five grandchildren, John Hague, James Hague, Richard Balestrini, James Balestrini, Elizabeth Balestrini, and David Balestrini, her sister-in-law, Mimi Kerr of Del Rio, and many, many, many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Ty Hughston, Dr. Mary Seger and Dr. Steve Boster for all their great care, support and friendship to our wonderful mother.
A Rosary will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at East Hill Cemetery In Ft. Stockton, Texas.
