Edwin Sherman Butler was born on Dec. 31, 1932, and left this world on Feb. 1, 2013. Ed was born and raised in Pasadena, Calif. and married Margaret S. Foerster in 1952. In 1956 he joined the Pomona Fire Department and moved his family to Pomona where he and "the wife" raised their four children. After retirement he moved to Lake Almanor, Calif. In 2011 he and Margaret relocated to San Angelo, Texas. Ed lived a high-energy life filled with passion for his family. He had extensive knowledge of firefighting, hunting, training gun dogs, fishing, camping, hiking, shooting, gunsmithing, knife making, cooking, and nature. Ed loved water skiing, snowmobiling, and in his later years enjoyed golf. In his spare time he was constantly active in community service, eager to lend a helping hand, a meal, a place to stay, or friendly advice. Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret Suzanne Foerster; brother Al Butler and partner Sandy Olsen of Cottonwood, Calif.; son Stanley Butler and partner Sandia Slaby of Olympia, Wash.; daughter Cheryl Ricci and husband Larry; son David Butler of Waimanalo, Hawaii; daughter Nancy Munns of San Angelo; granddaughter Laura Elkins and husband Art; granddaughter Stephanie Reisner and husband Randy; granddaughters Meeghan Zahorsky and Natalie Butler of Olympia, Wash.; great-grandchildren Kaleb and Jade Reisner, Rachel and Gage Elkins, all of San Angelo; nieces Gail Butler and Leah Shark; sister in-law Barbara Parry of Elsinore, Utah; and nephew Russell Butler of Cottonwood, Calif.
