Ellis Wayne Scott

Wayne “Babe” Scott passed away at the age of 76 at his home on June 23, 2011 surrounded by his wife Ruth and his care giver Lucy Ramirez. Services will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 with Scooter McCurdy officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, for the immediate family.

Wayne was born February 17, 1935 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Babe a name given to him by his mother and called by many of his friends, worked for GTE for 30 years. After his retirement he opened his own business Wayne Scott Communications which he sold in 1999.

Wayne was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Laverta Scott, a brother Thomas Mills Scott, Grandson Jason Thompson and his first wife of 36 years Margie Lou Scott.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 12 years Ruth Vernell Scott. He and Ruth were married in the Holy Lands, the first of many trips they took together during their marriage. Step-children, Tana Fredric and husband Mitch of Bridgeport, TX, Ruth Wheeler and husband Mike of San Angelo, Robbie Scruggs and wife Vivian of Coppell, TX and Regina Ross and husband Oren of Hurst, Texas. Sister-in-law Onita Scott of San Angelo, and special cousins Jerry and June Lackey of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Nephew Fonnie Scott and wife Cindy and their children of Midland, Texas. Five step grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Wayne’s care giver Lucy Famirez for the love and kindness she showed Wayne. Lucy you are a very special person and Wayne adored you and loved you.

Pallbearers for the service are Gary Rodgers, Glenn Lewallen, Don Moore, Coy Moses, Melvin Jennings and Robert Heinze.

Wayne was a faithful member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church. He was a very caring man with a wonderful love for life. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
