Elva Delia Ramirez of San Angelo passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. She was born on August 5, 1952 in Remolino, Mexico to Dora & Gonzalo Lafuente. Elva attended Academia Rebeca and graduated in the class of 1968.
Elva moved to Del Rio, TX before eventually moving to San Angelo, TX to work for Levi's. She later went on to work for Ethicon until she retired.
Elva married Jesus Ramirez on February 14, 1982 and had 3 children - and later, 1 granddaughter.
Elva persevered through life like a true warrior. She lived through very intense moments and losses that perhaps no one could imagine. Throughout her life, Elva sought God's guidance and love. He never left her side. Elva was also blessed to have her youngest brother, Juan Lafuente "Ito", gift her a kidney in 2004. His gift gave her 20 more years and an increased quality of life.
Elva was a proud member of the Sociedad Guadalupanas and Las Golondrinas of San Angelo. She has a passion for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the Virgin Mary. Elva also enjoyed volunteering her time with the less fortunate, gardening, and traveling the world with her family. She also loved her Mexican roots, culture, and ranch life upbringing.
Elva is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Ramirez; father, Gonzalo Lafuente; brother, Roberto Lafuente, Sr.; and sister, Maria Lafuente.
Left to cherish Elva's memory are her mother, Dora Lafuente; children, Dulce Andrea Ramirez, Diego Rafael Ramirez, and Jesus Alonzo Ramirez; granddaughter, Ariana Gonzales. Also left to cherish Elva's memory are her siblings, Marina De La Garza, Blanca Lafuente, Juan "Ito" Lafuente, and Robert "Betin" Lafuente.
A rosary for Elva will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Johnson's Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Catholic Burial will take place at 10 AM on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at The Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart with interment to follow at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Diego Rafael Ramirez, Jesus Alonzo Ramirez, Daniel Ramirez, Juan Lafuente, Roberto Lafuente, Jr., Leandro De La Garza, III, and Robert "Betin" Lafuente.
