

Enedina Castorena Gomez, 92, went peacefully to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was surrounded by her loving family after being under Hospice Care for several months. Enedina was born to the late Theodore and Adela Castorena on August 1, 1924 in Del Rio, Texas. At the age of 12 years, her parents and siblings moved to San Angelo, Texas. She was a woman of humble beginnings, having been a migrant worker, house keeper, laundry shirt presser, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. In 1940, she met the love of her life, the late Jose “Joe” Gomez. Later, on October 29, 1945, Jose and Enedina were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.“Mamoo”, as she was lovingly called by her loved ones, leaves a family she so loved and protected including her two sons, Oscar C. Gomez and his wife, Corina, from Southlake, Texas, and Richard C. Gomez and his wife, Tommie, from San Angelo, Texas; and her daughter, Gloria C. Gomez from San Angelo, Texas; her pride and joy, the grandchildren in her life, Greg E. Gomez, Paula Lavizzo, Richard Gomez Jr., Yvette Gomez-Rios, Janelle Torres and Grable Gomez; the twinkle in her eyes, the great-grandchildren, Gregory Austin Gomez, Alayna Rios, Noah Rios, Aliana Rios, Jacob Bermea , Seth Bermea , Grable Gomez Jr. and Gabriella Rivera; and she was also blessed with two great- great grandchildren Jaythyn Rivera and Jayse Rivera. Enedina’s siblings included two brothers, the late Alfredo Castorena and his wife, the late Chavela Castorena from San Angelo, Texas, and Clyde Castorena and his wife, Mary from Grand Prairie, Texas; and three sisters, the late Oralia Villarreal and her husband, the late Evelio Villarreal from San Angelo, Texas, the late Consuelo “Chelito” Castorena and Bertha Garcia and her husband, the late Arnold Garcia from San Angelo, Texas; and many nephews and nieces that she loved very much. Mamoo was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church initially and later St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. She was a devoted Catholic, wife and mother. She was most appreciative of her church, family and friends. In additions, the family wishes to express special thanks to all of HOSA Staff and to Mamoo’s personal caretaker, Michelle Burch. A family rosary will be held at 7 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. Her Resurrection Mass will be at 10:00 A.M, February 15, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Following the Resurrection Mass, her final resting place will be at Calvary Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas. The Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Greg E. Gomez, Richard Gomez Jr., Grable Gomez; her great grandsons, Jacob and Seth Bermea; and Alfonso Torres.
