Esperanza Velez Ibarra

She was born in Aura, Coahuila Mexico on March 9, 1929, to Estanislao Velez and Gregoria Trevino. She married Manuel Mendoza Ibarra in April, 1945. Manuel preceded her in death on March 31, 2006 after 61 years of marriage.

Esperanza dedicated her life to raising her six children, always making sure their needs were met before hers. She was an excellent cook and homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Estanislao and Gregoria Velez, two brothers, Jaime Velez and Alfonso Velez, and her husband Manuel Ibarra, Sr.

She is survived by one brother, Enrique Velez of Monclova, Mexico; one sister, Emma Ybarra from Chicago, Illinois. Also, surviving her are her 3 sons, Fernando Ibarra and wife Linda, Manuel, Jr. and wife Marylin and Mike Ibarra; 3 daughters, Dora Terrazas, Yolanda Vega and husband Michael, Hope Flores and husband Richard; 8 grandsons, John Terrazas, Michael Garcia, Patrick Duarte, Theron Ibarra, Fernando, Jr. and Richard Ibarra, Chris Ibarra and Richie Flores; one granddaughter Diana King and great granddaughter Mackenzie Estes.

Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 20th in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 21st in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Miles Cemetery.
