Fred Schmickle, 59, of San Angelo, our Daddy Fred, surrounded by his loving family, passed into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 25, 2011.
Even while battling leukemia, his faith remained amazingly strong. He was an encouragement to everyone he met.
Fred was born in San Angelo, Texas, on October 26, 1952, to Fred and Laura Schmickle. He was a graduate of Lake View High School, class of 1970. He went to work at the San Angelo State School and was employed there for more than two decades, where he developed many lifelong friendships. He then landed what he considered his “dream job” with Texas Wildlife Damage Management. This was his calling and he truly loved his work.
Fred loved the word of God and shaped his life with it. While attending Southwest Bible Institute he met the love of his life and best friend, Marlinda McFadden. They were married June 23, 1979, and spent 32 wonderful years together. They were blessed with three children, Fred, Bethany, and Sky, and a special sunshine Dakota. Fred was a wonderful father.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Laura Schmickle; his brother, Michael Schmickle; and infant grandson, Hawken Schmickle; inlaws, Morris and Beverly McFadden, all of San Angelo.
Fred is survived by his wife, Marlinda Schmickle; his son Fred and wife Sun and daughter Mia, all of California; his daughter Bethany, of San Angelo; his son Sky and wife Emily and daughter Emma, all of San Angelo; sister in law, Judith Schmickle, of San Angelo; brother and sister in law, Lynn and Jodine McFadden, of San Angelo; brother and sister in law, Mark and Inga McFadden, of Hawaii; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his many qualities, Fred was a strong faithful man who shared his love of God with everyone he met. He was an avid outdoorsman and baseball coach, and seemed to always have the wisdom and compassion to help others. He was known to many people as the hardest working man they ever knew.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Prieto for his compassionate care and listening ear. We also would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for their constant support, our church family, and many friends for all their prayers.
Memorials can be made to Southwest Bible Institute, 3200 San Antonio Street, San Angelo, TX 76901.
