

George C. Rogers, 75, passed peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Feb. 4, 1939 in Carrboro, North Carolina. George was the son of John Rogers and Lee Ella Rogers.
Family visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Graveside service is at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Donald Moon officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Neill, Cody Rogers, David Williams, Gentry Wright, Clint Head and Matthew Callison.
Survivors include his spouse of 53 years, Barbara J. Rogers; daughter, Lynda Wheeler of San Angelo and her children, David, Kayla, and Brittany; son, Scott Rogers of San Angelo and his children Cody and Krista; son, Mark Rogers and wife Melissa of Big Spring, Texas and their children, Matthew, Breanna and Brandon; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Fink.
George was an employee of Goodyear Proving Grounds for 33 years. He retired in 1996. George will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that never met a stranger his whole life. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball, fishing, NASCAR, and family time. He will be missed and remembered forever.
