George Sisco

Funeral Services for George Sisco, 96 , will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Proctor officiating. Burial will be following at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo. Visitation will be Monday, June 1, 2015 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be, Wesley Glass, Trey Sisco, Ty Sisco, Baylor Walker, Shelby Staggs and Lee Puckitt. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Prater, Fred “Mike” Baker, Warner Phillips, Dr. Percy R. “Bud” Turner, Steve Baker, Wade Demere and Craig Demere. George was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, April 8, 1919. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University and had begun working on a Master’s degree at Texas A & M University when he quit to enlist in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base as a pilot instructor. Alice and George met and were married in the Irene and George Weddell ranch home January 27, 1945. Soon after they married George was promoted to Captain. He received an honorable discharge in September of 1945. George returned to Texas A & M and completed his Master’s Degree in Accounting in February of 1946. He passed the CPA exam and for three years partnered with Marvin Hall in the accounting firm of Hall & Sisco. In the spring of 1949 Alice and George moved to the ranch at Water Valley where the two of them worked together with Mr. and Mrs. Weddell on the ranch and raised their family. He was active in the Water Valley ISD, First United Methodist Church of Water Valley and the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, on the Tom Green ASCS committee, the board of directors of the Concho Valley Coop, the Tom Green Appraisal District review board. He was also member of TSCRA, San Angelo Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA's,First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo, TX. The Siscos have two children—Helen Glass and husband Lynn who ranch near Big Spring, and Barney Sisco and wife Charlotte who live on the Water Valley ranch. He was a proud grandparent of Elizabeth Staggs and husband Shelby, Wesley Glass and wife Ashley, Jamie Walker and husband Baylor, Trey Sisco and wife Jennifer, and Ty Sisco and wife Lindsey. Their thirteen great grandchildren are Mallory, Joelle and Sawyer Staggs, Peighton and Carter Glass, Shawn, Lyndee and Mason Walker, Brenden, Wyatt and Will Sisco, and Grae and Steele Sisco. George and Alice celebrated their 70th anniversary recently.
