Obituary of Gloria Ann Hummingbird
Gloria A. Hummingbird March 28, 1964 - January 22, 2022. Gloria Ann Hummingbird went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 22,2022, leaving a blazing legacy of love for family, love of community and generosity. Gloria was born and raised in San Angelo, where she attended Bradford Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School and graduated from Lake View High School. She entered the field of Library Sciences where she began her career at the Tom Green County Library, Lee Jr. High School and eventually to Angelo State University, where she was at for 17 years. Despite a full-time career and being a full-time mom, Gloria and her family wholeheartedly supported kids in local schools through PTA and booster clubs and local recreation centers. Her smile and drive was out matched only by the encouragement and inspiration she gave the kids. She loved each one like she did her own, nobody went without where she was concerned. Gloria was deeply loved and cherished by her family and friends throughout the community. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 36 years, Robert K. Hummingbird; their son Rob Hummingbird and his wife Courtney, and granddaughters Riley and Ella; and their son Matthew Hummingbird. Also survived by her mother, Eleanora Sanchez and sister, Sylvia Dzenowski. She is preceded in death by her father Roberto B. Sanchez, her brother Juan C. Sanchez, and her brother-in-law Larry D. Dzenowski. Gloria, because of you this family shares a very special closeness. Through you, we learned that family ties can cross any distance and still keep us close in heart. No matter what else is going on in life, we can always count on each other. We love you forever. “I love you in a place where there’s no space and time. I love you for my life, you are a friend of mine. And when my life is over, remember when we were together.”
