

Graciela (Grace) Guillen Vallejo, 80, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2014 in San Angelo, Texas. Grace was born in Jimenez, Coahuila, Mexico on November 27, 1933 to Filomeno and Maria Nava Guillen. In 1960, She married Jesus Casillas Vallejo in Mexico and then moved to Texas in 1961. Moving to Sterling City in 1974 and resided in San Angelo since 1995. She enjoyed taking care of her family as a homemaker her whole life. She would make homemade tortillas every day for the family and made the “best” Guiso and Pecan Pies. Those who visited would never leave her home hungry. She was from the old school, still washing clothes on a scrub board and hanging them to dry. The family’s clothes were always ironed so that they always looked their best. She enjoyed singing hymns and always had a song in her heart. She especially loved Elvis Presley’s songs and movies. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids, always saved the gifts they gave her. She loved animals and particularly enjoyed her time raising peacocks and chickens. Her favorite hobby was crocheting blankets for her family. She was baptized February 12, 1989 in Colorado City. She was an active and zealous member through the Jehovah’s Witnesses Congregation where she proudly preached the Bible. Grace was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jesus. Survived by sons: Jesse Vallejo and wife Linda of San Angelo, Tony Vallejo and wife Sheri of Odessa; daughter: Mary Ellen Sanchez and husband Miguel of San Angelo. Sister: Rogelia Gonzales, brothers: Jose Nava and wife Estela; and Antonio Guillen, all from Mexico. Grandchildren: Sandi Ortega and husband Mario, Andrew Vallejo, Jessica Vallejo, Miguel Sanchez Jr. and wife Karina, Victor Anthony Sanchez, Shana Vallejo and fiancé Kelind Parker. Great grandchildren: Ezekiel, Jesse and Noah Ortega, Fenix Vallejo, Lena Pellegrin, Morgan Parker and Kurtis Parker who is expected in March 2015. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 21 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Peter Sanchez, Agustin Tapia Jr., Josh McCollum, Pablo Mata, Kelind Parker and Felipe Galvez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mario Ortega, Andrew Vallejo, Miguel Sanchez Jr., Victor Anthony Sanchez, Ezekiel Ortega, Jesse Ortega, Noah Ortega and Fenix Vallejo.
