Gregorio Bernal Aguilar Sr 77, passed away on Sunday June 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Greg was born in Marathon Tx to Juan and Maria Aguilar. Greg graduated from Marathon High School and shortly after enlisted in The United States Air Force where he became a Staff Sergeant. Greg served in Vietnam where he lost numerous buddies and decided then to go back home. Greg enrolled in college at Sul Ross University where he studied Chemistry and Microbiology, while in college he worked as a surgical tech in Big Bend Regional Medical Center.
After 3 years of college Greg met the love of his life Frances Aguilar where they celebrated 50 yrs of marriage. Frances blessed Greg with 5 beautiful children Mary, Juan, Patricia, Katherine and Greg Jr, he was so proud of each one of his children. Greg is known for working with Santa Fe Railroad for many years and his side business Aguilar and Son's appliances fixing washers and dryers. If you knew Greg he knew no stranger, he would strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen to him. Greg was a hard working family man who cared deeply for everyone and would help anyone in need no matter the cost. When Greg was not busy working his passion was fishing and hunting. He actually still holds the record for biggest striped bass in Lake Nasworthy today. He also loved spending time with his siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could always catch him outside his home listening to music, drinking a beer and teaching his children, and grandchildren how to carry on the family business so they always had a way to make a living.
Greg Sr is preceded in death by his mother Maria Aguilar, father Juan Aguilar, and step mother Louisa Aguilar. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 yrs Frances Aguilar, daughter Mary Miller spouse Manuel Sr, son Juan Aguilar spouse Beatrice, daughter Patricia Aguilar, daughter Katherine Aguilar, son Gregorio Aguilar Jr spouse Crystal, sister Rufina DeLeon late spouse Juaquin DeLeon, sister Gregoria Luna spouse Alfonso Luna, sister Hipo'lita Valenzuela spouse Tiodoso Valenzuela, brother Domingo Aguilar spouse Belen, sister Vita Garcia spouse Jose Alfredo, sister Marcia Grano spouse Jesus, brother Anselmo Aguilar spouse Kathy, step brother Max Lujan, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A visitation for Gregorio will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 W Beauregard Ave, San Angelo, Texas 76903. A rosary will occur Thursday, June 16th, 2022 at 6:00 pm, 435 W Beauregard Ave, San Angelo, Texas 76903. A mass of christian burial will occur Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 7 W Ave N, San Angelo, Texas 76903. Gregorio will be laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, San Angelo Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandchildren Julius Aguilar, Joe Aguilar, Mark Carrasco, Manuel Miller Jr, John Aguilar, and Jose Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers are his son's Juan Aguilar and Gregorio Aguilar Jr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cheruku, Ashley-NP, Katie-NP, nurses Leah, Rhonda, staff Thelma, Anna and all other oncology staff who helped in his care. Dr. LamSui and Dr. Studt and their staff for all their help in caring for him as well. We thank you all for all you have done, we could not have done this without your help and support!
