Gwendolyn Wallis Baker, 81, of Grape Creek passed away on August 19, 2022. She was born on August 16, 1941 in Coleman, TX to Charlie & Helen Wallis. She was a 1959 graduate of Lake View High School and worked over 27 years for St. John’s Hospital and Shannon Medical Center. She grew up a cowgirl and would always choose mucking stalls over cleaning in the house. Her favorite companion was a horse named Boo. In May of 1970 she married the love of her life, Kenneth Baker and they celebrated 51 years together before his passing in February 2022.
For over 46 years she served as secretary of Full Gospel Assembly Church. Her church family was very special to her and she loved them very much. She also spent 18 years volunteering on San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Santa Fe Trail Ride. A group that was also very dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, her daughter, Terri and other numerous relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Tommy (Belinda) Baker, Theo Baker and Tabitha Baker, all of Grape Creek; her grandchildren, Chase (Sarah) Fuchs, Clay (Jill) Fuchs, Callie (Reid) McIntyre, Travis (Sarah) Baker, KC Baker and Blaine Baker; her 8 great grandchildren, Brayden, Mason, Hailey, Charlie, Ryder, Brantley, Marcus and Olivia; her siblings, Jane Parker, Roberta Christopher, Morris Wallis, Lonnie (Barbara) Wallis, Charlie B. Wallis and Lorna (David) Bunger. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
