Thank you all for your messages. It is so great to see what a gift Dad was to so many of us. I love and miss him very much, and as the years go by, l appreciate and value more and more all he has taught me and will continue to teach me by his life. My sister and I as well as our whole family feel so blessed. Blessings to you all.

Sam filled a special place in my daughters heart.  He was the grandfather she never had.  I never got the chance to meet him but I have heard so many wonderful things about him. He is in heaven now with his wife and Im sure he is looking down and saying, "please dont be sad because I am happy and I will see you again someday".  Corinna, I know this is so hard for you.  I was so sad when my mother passed away.  When you really miss him, look at your children.  He is in them.  Everytime I see my children, I see my mother and I know she is still here.  My prayers are with you and your family.

I'll often remember Mr. Samuelson driving his son Frank and me to Central High when we were freshman, still to young to drive. He'd have the radio on which seemed to play everyday the song, "I saw miles and miles of Texas, going to live there till I die." And he did. Many fond memories at the Samuelson home. I only knew Sam for three years, but in that short time I came to love him as my own grandfather. He will be missed dearly, remembered greatly, and loved forever.

We met Sam and Irmgard in 1998 when they were visiting  Corinna and Doug in Rochester, MN. They were a great couple and we so enjoyed their company over the years. Had a great visit with Sam at his Grandsons wedding in 2012. Corinna, Doug and family you are in our thoughts and prayers you have our Love. Robert and Jane Hanson  Hudson,WI.

First met Sam on his front porch as a nineteen year old while courting his daughter. For the next thirty years, I was lucky to have had Sam as my father-in-law. He made me a better man, more understanding husband, and more loving father.

Never heard him say an unkind word. Perhaps more than anything else that remains his legacy with me. Wish I had the strength of character to act the same way. His smile, kind heart, and love will be deeply missed. Very thankful he counted me amoung his friends.

I can pay him no better compliment than to say I wish I was a lot more like him. I'll keep trying.....

I will never forget Sam coming to Dan Kidd's for lunch while Dan & I were working through my degrees. Sorry I can't make the service. I am out of town.

Uncle Howard was the BEST - he made everything fun! He always found the positive in life. His teasing, his ornery twinkle and mixed German/English kept you on your toes. The world was brighter with him in it - may he rest in peace and be with his beloved Irmgard in heaven.

Sam was a good person and he will surely be missed.  I enjoyed talking to him at our Lions Club meetings.

He was the greates person when he needed a computer lesson he would call my office and tell the girls that my uncle sam was calling. He treated my like a daughter he will be missed very much I loved him very much.
