

James Patterson Fisher, 80, of San Angelo, went to be with his Lord on Jan. 10, 2018, surrounded by his wife, family, and loved ones. James was born to Johnnie Patterson and Ruth (Colston) Fisher on December 18, 1937, in Friendship, TN. James joined the United States Air Force in 1955, achieved the rank of Technical Sargent, and retired in 1975. While stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base, James met and married Alta Fay Eubanks of Robert Lee on January 23, 1960. After leaving the Air Force, James graduated from Angelo State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Education. James taught in Rankin, TX., for one year and at Bradford Elementary in San Angelo for six years. After leaving the school system, James transitioned into his profession as a probation officer for Tom Green County. After serving as a probation officer for 11 years, James retired at the age of 62. James, Alta, and family enjoyed travelling to all 50 different states and 7 countries. James obeyed the gospel by putting on the Lord in baptism in 1965, and remained a faithful member of the Church of Christ. James was a strong faithful Christian influence and leader to his family. James will be severely missed by all who knew and loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rex and Dan Fisher; two sisters, Sue Massengill and Joann Burks, and two grandchildren, Greg Grimes and Ambre-Sue Fisher. James is survived by his wife of 57 years and 3 children; Lineta (Ron) Grimes of TN, James Jr. (Cindy) Fisher of TX, and Aneta Ruth (Don) Rude of FL.; grandchildren, Sherry, "Bear", (Dusty) Jolly, Brandi Grimes, James Patterson Fisher III, Kirsten Rude, Rosa-Jewell Fisher, Ian Rude and great-grandchild, Kimberly Jolly; 4 brothers, Leroy (Kay) Fisher, Roy (Janie) Fisher, Johnnie (Debbie) Fisher, Marty (Patsy) Fisher; 5 sisters, Doris Stutts, Bobby Nell Stephenson, Cynthia (WT) Smith, Ava Morgan, and Bonnie Williams as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Monday, January 15, at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow at Robert Lee Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of James to Cherokee Children's Home.
