James attended Stoney Point High School and later went on to obtain his welder’s certification from the Oklahoma Job Corps Academy.
Growing up, James had a passion for the outdoors and a love for fishing with his Papa and his best friend Juli. We can only imagine the three of them fishing together in Heaven.
James was preceded in death by his Papa, John Wagner and his Mimi, Becky Porter. He is survived by his children Broady Douglas Cox (7), Jordan Anthony Wayne Porter (6) and Gracelynn Marie Porter (4); his mother, Cheri Gray and spouse Gary Merriman; his father Dan Porter and spouse Betty; his stepfather Marc Gray; his sisters Holly Gray, Hannah Vaughn and Heather Langford; his Nanny, Cheryl Wagner; his cousin, Jonathan Elliott who was like a brother his entire life and many other special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 10am with graveside interment to follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
Any donations in James’ memory can be made to the Hopper House at hopperrecoverycenter.com
