

James David "Wabbit" Richmond, 84, of Big Lake, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 29, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, Janurary 2nd, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church in Big Lake. Graveside services will follow immediately after at Glenrest Cemetary in Big Lake. A visitation with family and friends will precede the service from 10-Noon at Bethel Baptist.
Jim was born February 25, 1928 in Seminole, OK to Harry and Laura Richmond. He married the love of his life, Wilma Jean Leach, on June 24, 1951 in Hobbs, NM, and she preceeded him in death on November 15, 1988. He later married Frances Whitehead in Big Lake, TX. She also preceeded him in death in February of 1996.
Jim served in the Navy as a Yeoman 3rd Class from 1946-1954. He began his career after the military with Oilwell Supply and retired as a Store manager after more than 30 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for Glasscock Chevrolet and being an active member of the Big Lake community. Jim was a faithful member at Bethel Baptist Church in Big Lake. He was also active in the American Legion Post 253, VFW Post 3216, and Trailblazers. He enjoyed volunteering in the Bethel Baptist Awana's and at the Big Lake Bluegrass Festival.
In addition to his wives, Jim was preceeded in death by his parents Harry and Laura Richmond. Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Betty Dyer of Iowa Park, TX; his children, Don Richmond and his wife, Jamye of Pilot Point, TX and Vicki Greenfield and her husband, Charlie of Monahans, TX; and grandchildren, Jeff Richmond and wife Angela, Chad Greenfield and wife Lauren, Kasye Berend and husband Trent, Kayli Tschauner, and Leslye Richmond. Jim is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Meredith and Carissa Tschauner and dear friend Wanda Ables.
