Our beloved mother, Janie Gonzales Aldrete, peacefully passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 89, while surrounded by family. She was born in Eden, TX to Balente and Modesta Gonzales on July 21,1937.
On July 21, 1956 Janie married the love of her life, Eddie Aldrete, in San Angelo, Texas. They shared 66 wonderful years together and were Blessed with six children. She retired from Ethicon after 27 years of dedicated service.
Janie was a devoted Catholic, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was strong, fun-loving and had a radiant smile that could light up any room. Her giving heart touched everyone she met. Her family meant everything to her. Outside her daily routine, she loved the outdoors - camping, nature, fishing - listening to music, and loved going to the Casinos to gamble. The last few years of her life she enjoyed to paint and do arts and crafts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Balente and Modesta Gonzales; her husband Eddie Aldrete, daughter Edna Perez, her sister Helen Aguirre, and her brother Joe Gonzales.
Janie is survived by her children, son Robert Aldrete and wife Dawn; and four daughters, Wilma Arzate and husband Joe, Anna Fuentes, Bernice Escobedo and husband Frank, and Alice “Sylvia” Solis and husband Craig. She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. She will truly be missed by all loved ones left behind and those that knew her.
We are deeply thankful for the wonderful caregivers at Concho Hearts Hospice. Thank you for treating our mom with such dignity and love in her final days.
A Rosary for Janie will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM. at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Monday, September 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
