Janie Muriel Garner

Janie was born on January 18, 1928 to parents Sam L. Weaver Sr. and Fannie (McClung) Weaver of Chatfield, Texas. She was married to William L. Garner Jr. in 1945 and remained a devoted wife and companion to him until his death in April, 1984.

Janie was a long time resident of both Lovington and Hobbs, New Mexico prior to moving to San Angelo in 1989. During her earlier years she was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, but was also a committed worker and business professional. In support of her family, she worked in multiple capacities, including school bus driver, grocery store manager and several positions within the banking business at Lea County State Bank in Hobbs, New Mexico where she retired as an Assistant Vice President.

Before the death of her husband and afterwards, Janie loved to travel and was able to visit many locations across the country. She loved to read, play card and domino games and work in the yard. Family was important to her and she loved the association of loved ones. Her greatest strength was her faith and spiritual life which she demonstrated through over sixty years of undying commitment as a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Thru her faithfulness, her promise of a paradise condition after death is secured.

While Janie was strong willed and disciplined as to her character and beliefs, she was also a soft hearted and compassionate person who was always willing and often sought out others to help.

Janie is survived by her sons, Larry Garner and wife, Sheila Faye of Burleson, Texas and Mike Garner and wife, Judy Ann of San Angelo, brother Sam L. Weaver Jr. and wife, Nettie Jean of Andrews, Texas along with six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hoyt Weaver.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Senior Care nursing home in San Angelo and Hospice of San Angelo for the excellent care they extended to Janie during her time of need.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 5024 North Grimes, Hobbs, New Mexico.
