Jerry was born July 9, 1924, in Rowena, Texas, to Joe Frank and Mary Ann Sebek Dusek. He grew up in Rowena and at a young age his family moved to Vancourt where they started Joe F. Dusek and Son’s Stock Farm. During his youth, he was involved in 4H and through his lamb feeding project, he won a trip to the National 4H Congress in Chicago, IL. In 1945, he was drafted into the U. S. Army. After completion of boot camp and while waiting to be deployed, the war ended. He then returned to the family farm.
Jerry met and later married the love of his life, Betty Barron, on February 14, 1950, and they shared 63 beautiful years together. Jerry believed in hard work and dedication to his farming, ranching and 4H. He spent long hours working during the week and on the weekends, he took his sweetheart and children to compete in barrel racing and calf roping events. Aside from his passion for ranching and watching his family at Rodeo events, he loved listening to good fiddle music, going dancing and teaching the young boys and girls involved in 4H. Jerry won numerous awards throughout his life. Among them were Outstanding 4H Leader for Tom Green County and Conservation Rancher of the Year for the Tom Green County Soil & Water Conservation District. He also served on the Wall School District Board for 2 terms.
Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who devoted his life to his family, friends and his community and we will dearly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Dusek, and one sister, Mary Wright. Jerry is survived by his loving family, wife, Betty Dusek, of Vancourt; his children, Randy Dusek and his wife, Cindy, of Millersview, Patsy Lee, of Water Valley, Eddie Dusek and his wife, Marla, of San Angelo, and Ruby Lee of Water Valley; his grandchildren, Ericia Fenton, Andrew Birkenfeld, LuCinda Birkenfeld, C.J.
