Jerry Wayne McDonald was born April 26, 1946 of parents "Box" and Martha McDonald. He was raised and graduated high school in Rankin, TX and went on to play football at ASU. He graduated with a B.S. and was the first ASU player to join the pro football ranks, playing as a tight end for the New England Patriots. He went on to teach in public schools and coach various sports for years thereafter. He loved and enjoyed his family including all the reunions on the river and then in later years time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making mesquite bean wine while listening to big band music. He is survived by his daughter, Cassie Kermode, her husband John and their three children, Aunts Bertha Millican-Ham and Louise Vinson, and many cousins. Visitation will be Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6-8pm at Johnson Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held in Rankin Cemetery, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
