

Jimmie Lea Tidwell, 87, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, surrounded by her family in Parks Methodist Retirement Home in Odessa. She was born Nov. 30, 1925, to Jim Minnie Eckert in Miles. Jimmie Lea attended Miles schools and graduated from Miles High School as valedictorian in 1943. She married Richard "Tom" Tidwell on Oct. 18, 1957, in Santa Anna, Texas. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Tom. Jimmie Lea is survived by a son, Jim Tidwell and wife Dora of Lubbock; three daughters, Deanna Collins of Fort Worth, Judy Burns and husband John of Odessa and Lisa Pavicek and husband Bud of San Angelo; and a sister, Sammye Driskill and husband Jolly of Buffalo Gap. One of Jimmie's proudest accomplishments was making a loving home for her family. Jimmie Lea was a proud and faithful servant to her God, family and friends. Jimmie Lea was a great cook. Tom and Jimmie were known for their fish fries. If not on the lake, you could find them attending ASU athletic events cheering on the Rams and Rambelles. The family would like to thank the staff at Parks Methodist Retirement Home, Odessa and the staff of Compass Hospice for all the care and love they gave to our Mom. Her service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Miles with burial following in Miles Cemetery.
