

JoAnn Cobb Smith, 79, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, July 21, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Austin, Texas, to Herschel George Cobb and Jewel Fox Cobb. She grew up in McAllen, Texas, and went on to become a laboratory technician. On Jan. 11, 1957, she married Scott Smith. To this union were born three children, Robert Steven Smith (DeAnna), Connie Jo Boyd (Skeet) and Theresa Ann Mooring (Robby); and five beloved grandchildren, Dustin Scott Smith (Tami), Jessica Smith, Zackary Dalton Smith (Whitney), Keagan Rye Mooring (Maegan) and Sheana Graves (Sam); five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tarin Smith, Macen Romo and Madden Graves, Rylin Grace Mooring and baby Mooring, due in January. She is survived by brother Charles Cobb of San Antonio; sister Jeaneene (Joe) Coughran of San Angelo; and five nieces. JoAnn was preceded in death by oldest brother H.G. Cobb. JoAnn worked in daycare in Alpine, Texas, for 18 years and loved all of her "kids". She was an accomplished artist and excelled in oils, watercolors and China painting. She retired and moved to San Angelo, Texas. She was a member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church and continued to enjoy her art. JoAnn was our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is loved and will be missed by all. Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Church in the Mountains in Fort Davis, Texas. Memorials may be sent to Home Hospice of Odessa, 516 N. There will be a local memorial service for friends at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in Sierra Vista United Methodist Church Chapel Hall in San Angelo.
