Joe R. Ortiz

Joe R. Ortiz, 70, passed away at his residence Tuesday, May 14, 2013. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Maria Lucio to preside and burial to follow in Belvedere Memorial Park. Joe was born to Tereso and Olivia Ortiz on Nov. 13, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas. Joe remained a lifelong member of San Angelo. He worked at Amour Packing Company until he retired. Joe was always full of laughs and always enjoyed life. He was a devoted Father and Grandfather who loved his family. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and two brothers. Mr. Ortiz is survived by two sisters, Cruz Martinez and Olivia Garza, both of San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Johnny Ortiz of Fort Worth, Texas; five children, Joe Ortiz, Anita Escamilla and husband Ishmael, Olga Ortiz and husband David Green, Ricky Duarte, all of San Angelo, Texas, and Maria Villawicencio and husband Urbano Sr. of Fort Worth, Texas; along with 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Urbano Villawicencio Jr., Joe Rey Villawicencio, Paul Ramirez, Robert Blanco Jr., David Green, Caleb Ortiz and Gabriel Leyva.
