

John Alton Carter, 56, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend was called home on Monday, September 3, 2012. Visitation will be all day Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Services are under the direction of Johnsons Funeral Home. John was born March 19, 1956 to Lonnie and Ladelle Carter in Harlingen, Texas. John grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Lake View High School in 1975. He always enjoyed being outdoors to indulge his love of boating, fishing and camping. He was also a very talented bass player and played with the band "Sabatoge" in the late 70's and early 80's. John was a loving, devoted husband and father. He was always ready with a story or joke to entertain his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a very special grandpa Earl "Catfish" Ayers; his father; and a dear friend Craig Smith. John is survived by his loving wife, Marissa Carter of San Angelo; son, Brandon Jackson of Colorado; mother, Ladelle Carter of San Angelo; brothers, Ronnie Carter and wife Dena of New Braunfels, Joe Mark Carter and wife Carrie; sisters, Cindy Martin Baker and husband Cary, and Pat Burditt all of San Angelo. He is also survived by many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
