John “Sleepy” Gonzales, 53, of San Angelo passed away on January 15, 2019. He was born on December 15, 1965 in Menard, Texas to Refugio and Micuela Gonzales. John graduated from Wall High School in 1985 and Chenier Southern Trade School in 1990. He worked as a correctional officer for a number of years. John’s hobbies included spending time with grandchildren, playing chess and living life to the fullest. He is preceded in death by his parents Refugio and Micuela Gonzales. John is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Perez; grandchildren, Destini Serrano, Ezra Chavez, and Amara Perez; siblings, Linda Benavides and husband Amador, Yolanda Riddle and husband Arnold, Helen Dougherty and Benny, Joe Gonzales, Richard Gonzales, Alice Torres, Lupe Lozano, and Helen Torres and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 from 6-9 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Eden, Texas.
