John served during the Vietnam War and then attended the University of Texas to become a pharmacist. He worked at Lakeview Drug, Albertsons, Wal-Mart and pharmacies in surrounding towns. John loved getting to visit with everyone and was a compassionate man who was always trying to help people. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and had such an entertaining and imaginative personality. He was a great grandpa because he was such a kid at heart and possessed a wonderful carefree spirit. Grandson Michael quoted “Grandpa, your body may have died but your spirit…your spirit in ALL OF US WILL LIVE ON”
John is survived by his wife Sonya and son Shay Wilson of San Angelo. Step-children Jin H. Lim and wife Michelle, Jack Lim, Diane Venable and husband John. Step-grandsons Brandon and Michael Lim. Brothers, William(Rick) Wilson and wife Mary Ann, Steve Wilson and wife Suzan of San Angelo, and sister Shirley Joiner and husband Wayne of Eldorado.
Nieces and nephews are Heather Oxley and husband Matt, Amanda Hryb and husband Adam, Julie Thompson and husband Sam, and Evan Joiner.
John was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Betty Wilson and nephew and niece Travis and Rachel Joiner.
Visitation will be Friday, June 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo. Graveside services will be held at the Eldorado Cemetery on Saturday, June 15th, at 10:30, A.M.
