Jose Rodriguez Garza, 46, of Mertzon, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 7, 2013 in Mertzon. The graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Mertzon Cemetery in Mertzon, Texas with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home. Jose was born June 7, 1966 in Del Rio, Texas to Florencio S. and Maria De Los Angeles Rodriguez Garza. He worked at the Concho Valley Council of Governments as a 911 coordinator. Jose also worked for the Irion County Sheriff’s department as a dispatcher. Jose was a licensed EMT/EMS and was on the Irion County Child Welfare Board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mertzon and he loved his church family. He was on walk to Emmaus # 1427 and enjoyed his Emmaus family as well. Some of the many things he enjoyed in his spare time were working with leather, fishing, woodworking, making hand crosses from various kinds of wood and spending time with friends and his dog “Chiao.” Jose was a loving son, nephew, cousin and friend and we will dearly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jose is survived by his brother, Marcos Antonio Lopez Rodriguez; his Sister, Lucila Rodriguez and her husband Ezequiel; his nephews, Noe Rodriguez and Mark Jonathan Lopez Perez; his Nieces, Nohemi Sampson and her husband Earl, Maria Hernandez and her husband Alberto, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Sierra and Savanna Sampson and Mikeyla and Briana Hernandez and Esmeralda Gutierrez; his Uncles, Eliazar Garza, Sr. and his wife Maria Elena, Indelacio Garza and Javier Verastegi; his Aunts, Elsa Verastegi and her husband Rojelio De La Torre and Elvia Campo Real and her husband Daniel. Also surviving him are his cousins, Eliazar Garza, Jr. and his daughter Sophia, Lina Garza and her children, A.J. and Olivia, Fernando Garza and his child Brit and David Garza. Pallbearers for the service will be Bill Taylor, Zack Vaughn, David Olivan, Jacob Lopez, Jeff Lopez, Neil Brown, Eliazar Garza, Jr. and Jodie Matthews. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Eliazar Garza, Sr., Dan McClung, Doug Keys and W.A. Estes.
