Jose C. Maciel (Tutu), 83, of San Angelo, Texas went to be with the Lord and Savior on February 26, 2018 after a long illness. He was born in Yoakum, Texas on October 25, 1934 to the late Celestino and Tomasa Maciel. He is survived by his longtime partner of 24 years, Amanda Carrillo; one son, Jose Maciel, Jr. (Patricia); six step-children, Becky Maldonado, Eddie Maldonado, of San Antonio, Texas, Willie Torres (Lydia), Roy Torres (Raquel), Shirley Ramirez (Juan) and Sally Torres, all from San Angelo, Texas. He is also survived by his three sisters, Ana Valenzuela (Ismael), Janie Ortiz, and Frances Nieves; six grandchildren, Joe Maciel III, Christina Maciel, Danny Gaitan, David Gaitan, Damien Arroyo, all of San Angelo, Texas, and Susan Gaitan Miranda (David) of Houston, Texas; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Simona Maciel, a daughter; Anna Gaitan and grandson Abel Gaitan, Jr., also preceding him in death are four brothers and four sisters. Jose worked as a chef cook for Twin Mountain Steak House for many years, after his retirement he dedicated his time to building dog houses and mowing yards. Special thanks go to Dr. Montoya and the nurses of Kindred Home Heath and Kindred Hospice, and their families. Also thanks to our sister in law, Amanda for taking care and being there for our brother. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him. “Brother, you broke our hearts, but we know you’re in a better place. No more pain, no more suffering, we love you and we’re going to miss you.” -Your sisters, Ana, Janie, and Frances. Jose was a member of Northside Church of Christ, thanks to Jim and Sharon Murray and their church members for being there for Jose. Pallbearers will be Willie Torres, Juan Ramirez, Jr., Juan Ramirez III, Otto Sarabia, Steve Bradshaw and Joe Maciel III. A wake service will be held at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary service to follow immediately. Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
