Born June 22, 1940, in San Angelo to Milburn and Mary Ann Wright, Sr. Joyce graduated from Miles High School in 1958. She attended San Angelo College where she met and later married her first husband, Fred Barton. This led to a 28 year adventure traveling as a military wife. Together they raised three children in Miles, Texas until his passing in 1987.
She married David Moore, retired Air Force, in 1993. This led to another chapter in her life. They celebrated 37 years together on February 11th. David shared in the life she always wanted on the family farm. David commenting that "she is the best woman he ever met."
Joyce retired from the Tom Green County Appraisal District to help work on the family farm and care for her beloved father until his passing. She was always Daddy's little girl. She was his sidekick, working alongside him in all aspects of farm and dairy life. Her love of nature and the outdoors developed at a very young age.
Joyce was passionate about family, her faith, the beloved farm, and hard work. She loved family gatherings, which brought love and laughter to the home.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Joyce is survived by her spouse of 37 years, David L. Moore; her children, Doug Barton (Dave Sault), Cody Barton (Sharon), Tricy (S.R. "Vic") Vickers, and Steve Moore (Mary); grandchildren, Travis Barton (Alie), Suzanne Moore; great-grandchildren, Emilia and Theodore Barton, and Killian and Kingston Walsh; sister, Jerrilyn Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Milburn and Mary Ann Wright, Sr.; brother, Milburn Wright, Jr.; and first husband, Fred Barton.
Visitation for Joyce will be held from 2-3 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately after, beginning at 3PM at Johnson's Funeral Home.
