Lawrence "Larry" "Grumpa" Donald Olson

Lawrence “Grumpa” Olson, age 77, of Bluffton, TX went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in San Angelo, TX. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with John Fiore of Glen Meadows Baptist Church officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to service in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. A burial will be on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bluffton Cemetery in Llano County, Lone Grove, TX. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.Larry was born to Orlando Olson and Winnifred Haverland Olson on July 10, 1932 in Kenross, Minnesota. He retired as an engineer after 28 years with McDonnell Douglas. Larry had a passion for Trains, writing software, the Dallas Cowboys, but most of all teasing his grandkids. He was also a big part of San Angelo Dragway. He led a wonderful life and influenced many people. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Marylyn Olson, his son Lee Olson and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Pierce and husband Joe of San Angelo, Patricia Tullos and husband Robert of San Angelo, Grandchildren, Shirley and John Kane and their five children of Denver, CO, Joe and Michelle Pierce and their two children of California, Jody and Terri Schneider and their three children of New Mexico, Carrie Jo Kirkpatrick and three children of Georgia, Matthew and Charity Pierce and two children, Naomi Nagel and two children, Rachel and Stephen Montgomery and one child, Daniel and Sarah Pierce, all of San Angelo, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
