L.C. Grooms, 84, passed away March 14, 2013, at his residence. A visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home Tuesday March 19,2013. A graveside service will be held by Brother James Miller at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. L.C. was born in San Angelo, Texas to Johnny and Vera Grooms on April 8, 1928. L.C. grew up living in San Angelo. Once able, he enlisted into the military. L.C. served in both the Air Force and Army branches during the Korean War. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, L.C. came back to live in San Angelo. In San Angelo, he met the love of his life, Frances Cates and they were married Nov. 1, 1962. L.C. was a member of Baptist Temple Church. He worked at Martin and Glover Wholesale Grocery starting out at a bottom position but through time and hard work rose up to be the manager of sales operations. In the last six years L.C. moved to Canyon Lake, Texas to live with his son. Mr. Grooms is survived by his wife, Frances Harlene Grooms; five children, Jenice Holmes, Donna Wooten and husband Gerald, Shelia Gist and husband Mike, Ricky Grooms and wife Tricia and Donald Grooms and wife Angelia; one brother, Billy Grooms and his wife, Sherry; along with 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
