

M. LaNell "Snooks" Reid left this Earth Thursday, July 25, 2013, to be with her Father in Heaven. Snooks was born Oct. 17, 1921, to Robert W. and Merrie Lula Driggers of Castor, La. She married Cecil E. "Rocky" Reid on April 23, 1942. Two months later, Rocky left for the European theatre of World War II. They farmed for several years in Louisiana and came west for better job offerings in 1950. Snooks worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company of Jal, N.M., first as a switchboard operator and later as the coffee shop director. Upon retirement they moved to Ruidoso, N.M., where they ran a game shop for young people and an ice cream shop until Rocky's death in 1975. In 2008, she moved to San Angelo to be near her family. Although she was unable to attend, she supported the Victory Christian Center there. Snooks brought great pleasure to hundreds of people with her music. She sang and played many various instruments and was a natural performer. She was preceded in death by her husband; and three sons, Dovalyn Autry, Ronald Rene and Robert Randolph. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Tom West of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Wade West and wife Samantha of Aragon, N.M., Lane West and wife Erin of Lubbock, Texas. and Cheri Braden and husband Parrish of San Angelo, Texas; and eight beautiful great-grandchildren. The family will announce a memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Meals For The Elderly of San Angelo; or the Boys and Girls Club of San Angelo.
