Mario A. Cornejo, 76, of San Angelo passed away November 2, 2020 at his home. Visitation for Mr. Cornejo will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, November 6, 2020 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Belvedere Cemetery.
Mr. Cornejo was born November 19, 1943 in Brownsville, Texas to Feliciano and Catalina Loya Cornejo. He served in the US Army as a 19K Armor Crewman from August of 1964 to December of 1970. He married Maria Delgado on October 5, 1983 in El Paso, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Feliciano and Catalina Cornejo, sister, Yolanda Cornejo, brothers, Elifonso and Jaime Cornejo, and grandchild, Austin James Wallace.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Cornejo; sons, Habacuc and his wife Lauren Cornejo, Mario Cornejo Jr. and his wife Deidre, Ricky Cornejo and his wife Rachel, Rudy Cornejo and his wife Yvette; Daughters, Abby Cornejo and Catalina Cornejo, Patricia and Ken Wallace, and Jessica and Tom Sejud. His beloved grandchildren include Noah Torrez, Kinley Peterson, Andrew, Jacob, Tony, and Solomon Cornejo, AJ and Noah Wallace, Rudy Cornejo Jr. and Alexis Cantu, Cristian and Sofia Cornejo and great grandchild Ashton Cantu. His surviving siblings are Norma and Feliciano Cornejo Jr.
Mario was an evangelist and a devoted man of God for over 40 years. He served as an example of passionate faithfulness, unconditional love, and forgiveness. Mario Cornejo will be missed dearly. His family finds comfort in knowing he has been embraced by the loving hands of our Almighty, Yahshua.
