Martin James (Jaime) Lopez, age 54, was fully healed and moved to his eternal home in Heaven on Friday, May 28, 2021 in San Angelo, Texas. Jaime was born June 18, 1966 in Big Lake, Texas, to Andres and Elva Lopez. After graduating from Garden City High School in 1984, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University in 1995. He went on to touch hundreds of students’ lives as an educator and coach in Ozona, Grape Creek, and San Angelo; lastly working in Banneker Hall at Central High School.
Jaime is survived by Vicki, his wife of 25 years; daughter, Katelynn (Leighton Delgado); son, Nathaniel; and mother, Elva Lopez. As the oldest of seven children, he leaves behind Maricela Gonzales, Melissa Lopez, Mario Aguilar, Andres Lopez, Jr., Magdalene Lopez, and Raquel West along with their spouses. He also leaves Vicki’s parents, Bub and Carol Burson; Vicki’s siblings and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; and his closest friend, James Reid.
Jaime was proceeded in death by his father, Andres Lopez, Sr.; his sister-in-law, Amy Lopez; and special niece, Abby Ham.
Visitation will be at Johnson’s Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas, on Monday, May 31, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at PaulAnn Church, 2531 Smith Blvd, San Angelo, Texas. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, San Angelo, Texas.
Jaime fought a long battle against diabetes and kidney failure. In Oct 2019, he received a gift of life through a kidney transplant from his close friend, Julie Holt. With all these challenges, he still managed to keep smiling. Those left behind will always remember his infectious smile and know he is smiling with Jesus today.
