As a fellow classmate of the RCHS, class of 1954, I remember Mary Ann very well. She and her husband, Donald, were a beautiful couple in many ways. She touched many lives and will be missed.

I had the wonderful opportunity of caring for Mr and Mrs Maroney at Raegan county care center. I never met a ny two people more in Love and nicer than these two. It was a pleasure to have taken care of them as well as having known them. In my line of work it’s seldom that you are touched so deeply by people. But these two became very special to me and after Mr Maloney left us it brought me even closer to Maryann as her care giver. Mark God bless you and be with you always Maryann will be dearly missed and it was a privilage to have known her and Mr Maroney. May the peace and understanding come to you and your family. God bless. Brenda Castilleja

Mary Ann Barbee Meroney was a classmate with me in the Reagan County High School graduating class in 1954 in Big Lake, Texas. I have many fond memories of her from the 1950’s. Her father was a major influence in my life, and I remember her mother’s Christian influence as a result of attending many events at her Church. I remember many double dates with Mary Ann and her future husband, Donald Meroney, voting for her as a Junior Class Favorite and Football Queen in 1952/1953, playing football with Donald and the after-game meals we all participate in at the Park Inn, gathering tumble weeds and spray painting them pink to decorate for the Junior/Senior banquet our junior year, sport team banquets, the graduation exercise, the senior trip to New Orleans, Mary Ann’s part in the senior play in 1953/1954, parties and dances, drive inn movies, 3D movies at the down town movie, driving up and down main street in Big Lake, etc. Mary Ann and Donald were two of the best friends that I ever had. I also, remember the great time that we all had celebrating our 50th Class Reunion in Big Lake in October 1-3, 2004. Mary Ann and Donald played a major role in arranging for all of the details and arrangement for all of that! I remember Mary Ann making a speech about all the RCHS teachers and coaches that we all had, and Donald make a presentation about the football teams that we had played on and all the highs and lows of those games. Mary Ann was a wonderful Christian person that will be truly missed!
