Mary Necessary, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025. Born on September 17, 1936, during the great Ben Ficklin Flood to Bryan and Charlene Kirk, Mary lived a life full of love, service, and dedication. She graduated from Christoval High School and went on to marry Robert Necessary, on December 21, 1956.
Mary worked at Monarch Tile and Berry's Shoe Factory before finding her true calling at Christoval Independent School District, where she dedicated 25 years of her life before retiring. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of the Christoval Baptist Church, where she volunteered her time and energy, always lending a helping hand to those in need.
In her later years, Mary resided at the San Angelo Nursing and Rehab, where she formed deep bonds with the nurses and residents, who became like family to her. She cherished her time there, often engaging in games of Skip-Bo and Bingo, bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charlene and Bryan Kirk; her sister, Sue Marion; and her husband, Robert Necessary.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Torres and husband Herbert; Theresa Troncoso and husband Ector; and Cecil Necessary and wife Jackie. She was a proud grandmother to Herbert Torres Jr. and wife Angelina, and great-grandmother to Rio; Joey Torres and wife Lora, and great-grandson Andrew, great daughters Emma, Lilly, and Rebecca; Micala Volk and husband Johnny, and great-son Wyatt and Great granddaughter Cirilla, Ector Troncoso Jr.; Evan Troncoso, Lydia Kelly and husband Chris, great granddaughters Kari, Aurora, Trinity and Everleigh. Michelle Burdick and husband Brady, and great-grandsons Clay and Jake. Mary also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her cherished extended family at San Angelo Nursing and Rehab.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday April 17, 2025 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday April 18, 2025 at Christoval Baptist Church with interment to follow at Old Christoval Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Torres, Reggie Torres, Herbert Torres Jr, Joey Torres, Ector Troncoso, and Evan Troncoso.
The family kindly asks that donations be made to the after-school program at Christoval Baptist Church, a cause that was close to Mary's heart or a charity of your choice.
Mary Necessary will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
