Mavis Jean Reed

In 1979, Jean was wed to Loren Fredrick Reed in San Angelo, Texas where they would reside.

Jean was the mother of nine children of a blended family. She traveled with her kids to places around the world. Places like California, Guam, Texas, Italy, Philippines, and finally settling down in San Angelo, Texas where she has resided for fifty years.

She grew up in Roanoke a small town in Louisiana along side Highway 90 now Interstate 10. She had three siblings Dalton, Annette and Huey. Early in her life she worked in a telegraph office in Lake Charles. Later in life she worked at Kelly AFB in San Antonio and as the manager of the Ramada Inn in San Angelo. She loved life and her family. She loved going to the beach, dancing, playing bingo and going to the casinos.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Dalton and Ruth Stansbury, her brothers Dalton and Huey Stansbury, daughters Becky Henderson and Linda Wheeler. Jean is survived by her sister Annette Cain, children; Paul Wheeler, Kathy Wheeler, Lawrence Wheeler, Anthony Wheeler, Jewell Elliot and by her stepdaughters Debbie and Stephanie Thomas. Her grandchildren are Joshua Wheeler, Tommy Jones and Audrey Philips, Tanner and September Henderson and Allistair Winston. She has eight great grandchildren. She loved and cared for them all. A memorial celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Johnson's Funeral Home.
