Max Hodges Surber

Max was born on May 25, 1942 to Woody and Eva Mae Surber in Brady, Texas. He owned and operated Surber’s Fiberglass, Inc. in Odessa, Texas for 25 years before retiring to San Angelo.

He was preceded in death by his son Jimmie Lee Surber, parents Woody and Eva Mae Surber, and sister Maudelle Wood. Max is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Jo Self Surber of San Angelo; son Wesley Surber of Odessa, TX; a very special daughter, Kristi Swain and husband Dan of Deer Park, TX; brother J.C. Surber and wife Loma of Sonora, TX; grandchildren Krystal Barrera and husband Mark of Odessa, TX, Brittany and April Surber of San Angelo, Ashley and Garrett Surber of Odessa, TX; special grandsons Colton and Bryce Swain of Deer Park, TX; great grandchildren Anthony and Brayden Lee Barrera of Odessa, TX and Maya and Millie Kendrick of San Angelo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of San Angelo.

Family visitation will be Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Hext Cemetery in Hext, Texas.
