SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at the Del Norte Independent School District Field House in Del Norte, CO at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Funeral services will be held in San Angelo, TX at Johnson Funeral Home at 3:00pm on Friday, April 8, 2011 with graveside services following at Calvary Cemetary.

BIOGRAPHY: Mike Salvato, formerly of Amarillo and more recently, South Fork, CO. passed away on March 31, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. He was born Nov. 29, 1941, in San Angelo to Nick and Mary Salvato. He grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Central High School. He attended Sul Ross College in Alpine and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education from West Texas State University in 1963. Later he earned his Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University. Mike obtained his Mid-Management Certificate from West Texas A&M University.

His early years in the education field were spent in LaMarque and Amarillo. He was assistant principal and principal at River Road ISD and was principal at Dalhart ISD. He was Superintendent at Highland Park ISD in Amarillo and Mosca, Springfield and most recently, Del Norte ISD, all in Colorado. Mike loved his family, was a devoted educator, and a huge University of Texas and Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed his frequent rides on this four-wheeler with Vinni, his German Shepherd and constant companion.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; “Little Paul” Salvato and T. J. Salvato.

SURVIVORS: Survivors include two sons, Marc L. Salvato of Denver, and Michael Tarone Salvato and wife Susan of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Alyssa Nicole Salvato and Ashlyn Breann Salvato, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Nicki Williams and husband Mansell of Lewisville and Toni Wright and husband Carl of San Angelo; a brother; Ronnie Salvato of San Angelo; five nephews and two nieces.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Swedish Medical Center
